1962年生まれ。1980年代よりイラストレーションやシルクスクリーンプリント作品を起点に、東京とロンドンを横断する創作活動を展開。
多摩美術大学卒業後、英国ロイヤル・カレッジ・オブ・アート（RCA）にて、コミュニケーション・デザインの世界的権威であるDan Fern教授に師事。
1992年にはデザイン界のオスカーと称されるロンドンのD&AD賞にてFirst Choice, College Awardsを受賞するなど、国際的に高い評価を得る。
現代美術の領域では、伝説的ギャラリー「レントゲン藝術研究所」の所属作家として活動。
1994年のベネッセハウス直島『OUT OF BOUNDS』展（南條 史生氏・秋元 雄史氏キュレーション）への参加は、日本のポストモダン・アート史における重要な足跡であり、その作品の一部であるコンテナは現在も福武總一郎氏の私物（コレクション）として大切に直島にて利用されている。
また、デジタル・テクノロジーの黎明期における活動も先駆的であり、1995年にはAppleやASCII、NTTとの提携によるアート・プロジェクト「Electronic Cafe Tokyo TM」をプロデュース。
その先見性はアカデミズムの世界からも注目され、石田 晴久氏（東京大学名誉教授）の招聘により多摩美術大学情報デザイン学科で教鞭を執る。
「情報の構造」を芸術の視点から解体・再構築するその姿勢は、伝統的な絵画からデジタル・アーキテクチャ、ファッションまで、ジャンルを超越した「芸術思想」として結実している。

Born in 1962, Takuya Matsunoki is a pioneering multi-disciplinary artist whose work serves as a bridge between the physical and digital realms, and between Tokyo and London. Starting his career in the 1980s with illustration and silkscreen printing, he has since evolved into a profound "Artistic Ideologist" who deconstructs and reconstructs the "structure of information" through various creative lenses.
Academic & International Recognition
After graduating from Tama Art University, Matsunoki moved to London to study at the Royal College of Art (RCA)under the tutelage of Professor Dan Fern, a world-renowned authority on communication design. In 1992, his visionary approach earned him the First Choice, College Awards at the D&AD Awards in London—often referred to as the "Oscars of the design world"—solidifying his international reputation.
Contributions to Contemporary Art
In the realm of contemporary art, Matsunoki was a key artist at the legendary Rontgen Kunst Institut in Tokyo. In 1994, he participated in the seminal "OUT OF BOUNDS" exhibition at Benesse House Naoshima (curated by Fumio Nanjo and Yuji Akimoto). This exhibition remains a landmark in Japan’s postmodern art history. Notably, the container structures he created for this project are still preserved and utilized in Naoshima today as part of Soichiro Fukutake’s private collection.
Digital Pioneering & Academic Influence
A true visionary of the digital age, Matsunoki produced the art project "Electronic Cafe Tokyo™" in 1995 in collaboration with Apple, ASCII, and NTT, anticipating the intersection of art and network technology long before it became mainstream. His foresight led to an invitation from Professor Akihisa Ishida (Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo) to teach at the Department of Information Design at Tama Art University.
Philosophy
Matsunoki’s practice transcends traditional boundaries, merging classical painting, digital architecture, and fashion into a singular artistic philosophy.
